I discovered only a few moments ago that an essay I wrote in grad school and published in the 2006 issue of CrossRoads: A Southern Culture Annual is available online. "Ignatius Reilly's Polish Compatriot: Finding Ferdydurke in a Confederacy of Dunces" compares the Polish novel by Witold Gombrowicz and the later American work by John Kennedy Toole. I still rank Confederacy of Dunces as the funniest novel I know.
