In the late eighties and early nineties, I worked as a reporter for newspapers in Milledgeville, Georgia and Bradenton, Florida, and I often scanned police reports written on manual typewriters. That experience inspired this story, "Its Eyes Was Flickering," published in Issue No. 23 of Prime Number Magazine: A Journal of Distinctive Poetry and Prose. Although the plot is all fiction, the title of the story is taken from a report with a flair for language I've long remembered.
